About Me

I have wanted to write fantasy and science-fiction ever since I learned how to read. I write both adult and young adult science-fiction and fantasy, and am also working on a historical fiction novel set in the 16th century.

I love history, especially Jewish history, and a number of my works in progress tie in to historical periods I find interesting -- currently, Judea after the Jewish Revolt, Jerusalem during the Crusader period, and 16th-century Venice.

I took a few detours along the way to becoming a full-time writer. After selling my first story (Temple of Stone) while in high school, I gave in to my mother's importuning to be practical and majored in biology at Brooklyn College. I then went to Columbia Law School and practiced law for almost two years at Debevoise & Plimpton, a large law firm in New York City.

I now live in Boston, Massachusetts with my husband Aaron and my daughter Shoshana. I spend most of my time writing and doing research.
